"...to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair."
Isaiah 61:3
I was listening to a song entitled Beauty for Ashes with my mom. I was still painting a previous series, but she said, "that's what your new series should be, Beauty for Ashes." So I prayed and spent some time with the Lord in my studio.
As I began painting with my fingers ( yes, only fingers:)) I began the process of worship and creativity. I started thinking about how ugly sin is, dark & messy, chaotic. The Lord reminded me of how beautiful I am to him, how beautiful we are, the people he created. Out of the darkness of sin, rises our beauty. But even in the darkness of sin, color still resides, God placed it there when he created us, when he knit us together. Sin tries to consume & speak lies, but our beauty rises out of the ashes, fuller than before, filled with joy and praise.
