" Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."
Isaiah 43:18 & 19
I was commissioned by my sweet cousin to paint a piece for her home based on Isaiah 43. I spent time in prayer over the piece, but sometimes I have no insight about what to paint. This was one of those times. When that happens, the act of putting paint onto the canvas with no idea of the outcome, for me, mimics stepping out in faith. So I began painting and one part of the verse stuck out to me, "I am doing a new thing!" I began blending colors across my canvas with no real direction. But I realized the colors began morphing into one another, transforming from one thing to the next. Old into new, beauty in the past, but newness in the present. This series represents a new season, a new thing, all covered in a spirit of expectation.
